As a leading manufacturer of metalworking fluids, we have a responsibility to develop solutions that balance technical performance requirements with the responsible use of resources. Our goal is to create innovative products that meet our customers’ high performance requirements while taking environmental and resource considerations into account.
We view sustainability as a holistic approach that encompasses reducing emissions, promoting the circular economy, and improving health and safety in the workplace. In doing so, we continuously strive to improve our products and processes to minimize negative environmental impacts.
Our Sustainable Product Solutions
In addition to our commitment to enabling safe processes at low cost, sustainability attributes are coming to the forefront in Oemeta’s products. Oemeta is continuously working to increase the proportion of sustainable ingredients in our products, improve their recyclability, and reduce their environmental impact to the extent technically feasible
Our products, which incorporate selected environmental and resource considerations, are in no way at odds with the high quality and performance standards our customers expect from us. On the contrary: We are convinced that innovative and environmentally friendly products can also set new standards in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
An outstanding example of our commitment to sustainability is our HYCUT ET 46 product. This product combines top performance with a sustainable approach, making it an ideal choice for companies that want to balance environmental responsibility with efficiency.
HYCUT ET 46 offers a range of sustainability benefits:
- Biogenic raw materials: 85% of the raw materials come from renewable sources, which reduces the consumption of fossil resources.
- Environmental toxicological classification: HYCUT ET 46 is classified as Water Hazard Class 1.
- Circular economy: The product is suitable for in-house recycling and can, for example, be reused as a water-mixed metalworking fluid after its initial use as a machine oil. This extends the product’s service life and reduces waste.
A distinctive feature of HYCUT ET 46 is that 85% of the raw materials used come from renewable sources. The PCF (including biogenic material)* is 2.9 kg CO2e per kilogram of product and was calculated according to the standards of the European Independent Lubricant Manufacturers (UEIL) methodology, which complies with ISO Standard 14067:2018. In line with the “Together for Sustainability” initiative, we take into account biogenic carbon uptake—that is, the amount of CO₂ absorbed by biogenic raw materials during their growth. This significantly reduces the overall carbon footprint.
*The PCFs listed here are based on a “Gradle-to-Gate” assessment. When specifying the PCF, a distinction is made between “PCF (including biogenic material)” and “PCF (excluding biogenic material).”
- PCF (including biogenic material): The removal of CO2 through uptake into biomass is characterized in the impact assessment as −1 kg CO2-eq/kg CO2 in the calculation of the CFP upon introduction into the product system. Emissions of biogenic CO2 are characterized as +1 kg CO2-eq/kg CO2 of biogenic carbon in the calculation of the CFP.
- PCF (excluding biogenic material): The removal of CO₂ through uptake into biomass is characterized in the impact assessment as +0 kg CO₂eq/kg CO₂ in the calculation of the CFP upon introduction into the product system. Emissions of biogenic CO₂ are characterized as +0 kg CO₂eq/kg CO₂ of biogenic carbon in the CFP calculation.
