Liquid Grinding Tools

Liquid tools for machining with non-geometric cutters

Increasingly shorter processing times – and therefore higher rotation speeds and cutting rates – are placing greater demands on both solid and liquid tools in grinding processes. Only through the optimal coordination between the machine tool, grinding wheel and coolant can the desired results be achieved with regard to dimensional accuracy, surface quality and efficiency. For many decades, Oemeta has been working with its customers as well as machine and tool manufacturers to develop coolants that are tailored to the exact requirements of a wide range of grinding processes.
As there is now a trend towards integrating several production processes within one machine tool, there are ever-higher demands placed on coolants. Whereas turning, drilling, machining and grinding used to be separate production stages, several processes are now increasingly being combined in the same machine. Coolants therefore have to be versatile. Oemeta provides concentrates for oil-based coolant emulsions that are ideal for use in grinding processes, and oil-free solutions that provide sufficient lubrication to facilitate standard cutting operations with specific blades. Alongside these, products with unique properties in terms of compatibility with non-ferrous or hard metals are also available. We also cater for individual customer requirements, such as the need for silicon- or boron-free products. Whether it should be oilfree or oil-based, water-soluble or a grinding oil, Oemeta has the ideal lubricant for nearly every application.

New grinding products

In addition to high-performance ester products and hydrocracked oils, Oemeta is now offering a cost effective grinding oil based on conventional mineral base oils with OEMETOL® 12 G 10. The product has excellent pressure absorption properties and lubricity, as well as good flushing and air-separating capabilities. These properties ensure cleaner grinding wheels as well as improved cutting performance. The use of selected EP and AW additives results in significantly less wear on tools. Furthermore, the product is odour-free and low in oil vapours. OEMETOL® 12 G 10 is suitable not only for all standard grinding processes, but also for use in challenging cog production processes.
FRIGOMET® 400 is a particularly economical oil-free product. Its outstanding flushing and wetting properties ensure excellent cutting performance, transporting any debris away from the workpiece quickly and safely. This effectively prevents any contamination of the grinding tool. The transparent, water-soluble universal coolant is suitable for standard grinding processes using steel and cast iron. Comprehensive separation of tramp oil allows for extremely long operating life with low maintenance.
